dumbass...

My rear wheel has been dying, so I got a decent wheelset cheap from the shop. I've had the rear on for a while, but just put the front on on Friday afternoon, after work. Fast forward to Sunday, I'm out at southfarm again, planning on doing another 5 or more lap ride out there. On the third time around, way out at the end, I hammer up a climb out of the saddle. Next thing I know, my front tire is going flat. I rode it flat (in the grass) for a half mile or so so I could get into the shade and fix it. I take off the tire, look for thorns, etc. Nothing. Pull out the tube, and as I'm doing so, glance over at the wheel. Woops! In my hurry to put on the new wheel, I forgot to put a rimstrip in it. What a dummy. So, I managed to make a rimstrip out of the tube I blew, and get everything going again. Rode home because I didn't know how well it'd hold. So far so good. I can't believe I did that...
Guess the extra weight on the front from me climbing out of the saddle was enough to do it. Probably would have happened a lot sooner, but the front rim is offset, so the spoke holes are off to the side a bit. Oh well.

Dude
You doing commercials now?
Just listened to some Maynard Fergason on youtube. He just passed away at age 78. Have gained a new appreciation for him.
Damn I wished I could do music. Anything horn or even those triangle things from grade school

We're hanging around Okanogan this week. The forest is shut down due to the fires- the Tripod fire is over 130,000 acres. We have a new one near Mazama. Sort of sitting on pins and needles on that one. Got a call last night that tahy may have to evacuate the area.
Also fired off a CV for a job in South Australia and received a positive reply back. I would run the Aqautic Health Program for SARDI- South Australia Aquaculture Research Development Institute.
Getting pretty pooped at Public Health in the poorest county in Washington State.
Yer Ma Says I have to clean up the garage before I get to go for a bu=ike ride
By the Way and speaking of sandals the crocs are still running strong- still have xmas ribbon on one of them.
Hang in there and say hi to folks in Mississippi

Nope, no commercials... just stoked to have some nice sandals again. I still wear my "Crocs" (I always called them "waldies") every now and then. But seems like everyone and there cousin's blind parakeet has them now.
Yeah, Maynard Ferguson is pretty badass. Sure can wail on the high notes. I've got several songs of his if you want me to send it along. Also have some Miles I've been listening to a bit lately. Some of his stuff I like, but a lot of it just sounds like random noise to me. Blasphemy I know. Hope you guys don't get evacuated, that'd be kind of scary.
South Australia you say? The land down under. That's somewhere I've always wanted to go. I've always wanted to try that vegemite stuff too...
Donating blood tomorrow for a worthy cause, the National Vampire's Association. I figure if I don't give them my blood, they may steal it in my sleep. Then again, maybe it goes to help injured people. Hmm...
So I'm in a bit of a weird mood.
Anyway...

Glad you are still listening to some good music. We are not in any sort of Evacuation zone. The smoke is getting old. Its gone on for about a month now. The fire is the largest in the USA-Okanogan finally being first in something. Equally frustrating is having the forest shut down. Can't go hiking or camping in the Pasayten, Tiffany etc.
Rode to Tonasket yesterday wa pretty rough the first 15 miles- smoke but probably more likely the potstickers I had for lunch.
The job in austrailia is near Adelaide, a city of about 1.1m, 4 or 5 universities, one of the few cities in australia that wasn't founded by prisioners. The city is on the water and is also the jumping off place for the outback
Okanogan is a pretty depressing place now. Have been looking for places in the county, fond one on the RES that has 40 acres and a lake, a start of a house and about 10 miles from town at about 2,000 ft
I will try to send photos. Have to go to work to get a proposal off and I am supposed to show up at a tribal meeting but they screwed up the calender dates- long story
Will send you the photos via email

Oddly enough, there's a town on New Providence Island, Bahamas also called Adelaide, which was founded by slaves...
