On foot.

As much as I love riding my bike, sometimes there's nothing better than a nice long walk. Southfarm is always a nice pretty place to go where we can let Zephyr run around, but I go out there so much (on my bike and walking) sometimes it seems a little boring, especially if I'm alone. Today however, it was quite foggy, and it was liking being in a new place. I could pretend I was somewhere else. At times I was reminded of walking across a mountaintop meadow on the AT. It was nice to be outside and take my mind off school and other worries, if just for a little while...
As usual, here's some pictures. You guys must be getting tired of Southfarm pictures by now.

Silly dog.

Yeah, real smart Zephyr... shake off when you're still chest deep.

But she found a stick, so she's happy.

Awesome photos.
We have a high pressure area today, sunny outside, temp has dropped into the teens. All our slushy snow has frozen. Will provide a good base for sking,
Managed to hit the trainer for 30 min, it was about time my wieght is a bit out of control.
Spent part of this morning lazing about rereading the log of the Mahina, Actually quite entertaining for a log. Did some reasearch on Ferenc Mate after reading his book Ghost Sea, As you know he has written a number of technical books- notably From a Bare Hull and Best Boats etc. He is Hungarian and immigranted here after the 50s Hungarian revolt . He has written a number of other books, One called a Reasonable Life seems particularly interesting.
I have to go to Seattle on Monday. Hope to go by a check out Volante.
Boat prices seem to be going up. Have found some Cape Georges at around $150K, The best buy if you have the moxie for a wood boat is Rupert Brooms old boat-Wild Goose at $65K. Both the boat at Rupert are somewhat of a legend. Rupert was one of the last oldtime crusty sailmakers. He use to commute to work on Wld Goose from Banbridge to Seattle. Use to see him gliding into the locks through the fog and rain. Check the boat out on Yachtworld. Imagine all this is rather remote and arcane from your perspective landlocked in the south. Hope you have fun over Christmas. Wished you were here.
