Well, here he is...
Hi there.
I am creepy zombie-eyes doggy!
But I'm friendly, really...
Even if I make Zephyr look tiny.
That's him. He's rather large isn't he? Spent all morning running around putting out flyers around campus, then to the animal hospital to report him and drop off a flyer, then to the vet school to drop off a flyer, then the humane society to tell them about him and drop off a flyer, and somewhere in there I went to the newspaper and put in an ad about him, and also went to the bank. So, I don't think there's much more I can do to get the word out. Hopefully his owners will turn up real fast. If we haven't found him by early next week, he's probably going to the shelter. I imagine he'll be adopted quick from there because he's not really a common breed, and he looks pretty good. Everyone who's seen him so far seems to want to take him off our hands though, so maybe we'll end up giving him away to someone we know. I don't know... Anyone looking for a healthy (though he has worms) Weimaraner?...
Back to doing school work...

Excuse me
But you forget that I am a veterinarian and that I have seen these situations far too often before, including well meaning folks who have indeed been sued for these issues. I recieve a monthly newsetter from the AVMA chronicling suits against both Vets and ordinary citizens in similar incidents and for far less. Really It does happen more frequently than you can imagine. And it is extremely costly. Do you have the financial rescources to handle even a modest suit even if you were right and found innocent. Lawyers up even in the funky desert are expensive. For example I cost me $800 in legal fees to defend myself in very simple legal situation where I knew I was right. It would not take much for some scumbag to go after you and I can certainly think of about 2 points of law to go after you for. Do you have the means to defend your self? Leave the animal with animal control or the shelter, they generally have insurance and protection to handle these issues and you don't. But excuse me, you all have the life experiences, history and training that I don't
Dad, I didn't mean to piss you off or demean you. I know you are a veterinarian and you read the AVMA journal, and have seen all sorts of unfair things happen. No, I don't have the means to take care of any legal issues, which is why I'm careful with this sort of thing. All I've done is take home a stray dog, put up some "Found" flyers, and notify the local authorities. I am going to be taking him to the shelter today anyway. We were hanging on to him for a couple days because we figure he'll get adopted (by his owners or not) from the shelter very fast, and wanted to give the original owners a chance to contact either us or the shelter/vet before he's given to someone else. Since no one at any of those places had heard of a missing weimaraner, I'm guessing his owners are either clueless or not around or who knows. Because no one had heard of him, and we didn't get any messages yesterday, I'm going to take him there today, and they can deal with him. Is that a bad way to do it? I wanted to give his owners a chance to find us before we drop him off at the shelter and some redneck hunter picks him up and neglects him. And I realize that his rightful owner very well might be someone who's going to neglect him, and I have no say in that. So rather than try to judge people's character, he's going to the shelter. They have more experience with this stuff than I do. So please don't get upset with me, I'm just trying to do the right thing for the dog and his owners. I didn't mean to disrespect you. Sorry.
Willmo
No problemo. You acted appropriately and I have great faith in your judgement. Just wanted to make you aware of the issue. Hope all is well with you two. Hope Kristen and you get some chill out time over the holidays
