Backyard creatures.

Some photos of things I've found in the backyard lately:

Wood Frog (Lithobates sylvaticus)

Besides the tiny spring peepers, these are the only frogs I've seen so far. The dark band around the eyes is a Wood Frog give-away.

Red-spotted (aka Eastern) newt (Notophthalmus viridescens). Tons of these guys around.

Some sort of tadpole. Green frog?

Crawfish.

Predacious diving beetle (Cybister fimbriolatus).

Spring Peeper (Pseudacris crucifer).

Without further ado, the prettiest critter I've found so far:

Spotted Salamander (Ambystoma maculatum).

This is the only one I've seen so far. They're way bigger than the newts I've found. This guy was probably 7 or 8 inches long.
